Frequently Asked Questions

Enrollment & Tuition

How do I enroll my student(s)?

The process is started by completing the online Information Request form. An office staff will contact you once it is received to answer your questions and set up a tour and meeting (if needed). Erollment packets for the new school year are made available to new families in February.

When should I enroll my student(s)?

Enrollment for the school year starts in February. We highly encourage families to enroll as soon as possible to ensure class availability and to secure financial aid. It is also possible to enroll your child mid-school year, which is considered a transfer from another school. This process is slightly different and is based on class size and availability. Please contact the school office for information about enrolling mid-year.

How do I get the In-Parish Tuition Rate?

To receive In-Parish tuition, families must be registered at Cathedral of St. Peter, St. John the Baptist, All Saints, St. Mary-St. Anthony, or Holy Family Church, participate in the life of the parish, make weekly contributions to the parish, and each registered student must be baptized or in the process. The Parish Commitment Form must be signed by parish priest. In-Parish tuition rates assigned at the beginning of a school year will remain the same throughout the year unless the family fails to meet the mentioned criteria. Should that occur, the tuition rate would change to the Out-of-Parish rate. The parish Committment Form is included in the enrollment packet.

About Resurrection

Does Resurrection provide transporation?

We do not have a bus system. Many of our students walk to school or carpool with friends, neighbors, or family. If transportation is an issue, please let us know so we can help put you in touch with someone that might be able to help carpool. We also have an after-school program (additional cost to tuition). This program runs until 5:30 PM and is a good option for working families who cannot pick up their child at the end of the school day.

My child is gifted. Can Ressurection accommodate them?

We serve students that have been identified as gifted. In addition to our teachers that have been trained to provide enrichment opportunities for students exceeding expectations, we have an Enrichment Coordinator. Our Enrichment Coordinator is responsible for creating opportunities both during the school day and through after-school programs that can further challenge a student academically. We also work cooperatively with the KCK Public School system for Gifted Services.

My child has special needs. Can Resurrection accommodate them?

Students who have an IEP work with the KCKPS to receive special education services. Most years, students travel to the KCKPS school building by bus. There, they receive services and then return to Resurrection. This year, students are using Zoom to stream with their KCKPS teacher. The time spent at Resurrection and the KCKPS building depends on the student's needs and IEP goals. Prospective families: If your child currently has an IEP and will be accessing Special Education services, please bring a copy of the IEP to Resurrection's office. Resurrection will initiate the conversation with the KCKPS. A meeting with the parents will be set up prior to the start of the school year. For more information about student services, including special education, please

Why should I send my child to Resurrection when we can do religious education through our parish?

For students at Resurrection, religious instruction is constant, not just during religion class, Mass, or once-per-week classes. Students apply the Fruits of the Spirit on the playground, learn a parable during Reading, and wonder at God's creation during Science. Unlike at public school, students are free to ask questions and express their faith at all times at Resurrection. This education, where faith is always welcome and God is acknowledged, is the best education we believe we can provide a child.

Does Resurrection follow the state standards?

We follow standards established by the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. Academically, these standards address the same concept and skills as state standards. However, these standards go beyond the Kansas Common Core State Standards because they are infused with Catholicity.

Are RCS teachers certified?

Our teachers have post-secondary educations and meet the state teaching requirements. This means that the teachers have obtained the required education, successfully passed the designated test, completed a licensure application, and passsd a background check. Additionally, our teachers have received training through the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas, participate in ongoing professional development, and are also VIRTUS trained.

Is there diversity at Resurrection?

RCS is representative of our community in Kansas City, Kansas. We take pride in the diversity of our students and embrace opportunities to discuss and explore the cultures that shape our students. There are 6 main languages represented within our multicultural community: Spanish, Burmese, Karen, Chin, English, and Croatian.

My family does not speak English. Do you have staff that speaks Spanish?

Our teachers are highly trained and many have years of experience working with students that are English Language Learners (ELLs). To further support the student, we have an on-site ELL teacher, Resource teacher, Title 1 Reading teachers, and Math coordinator. Several of our faculty and staff are fluent in Spanish and can assist when needed. For families, we have a full-time office assistant that is fluent in Spanish. She is available to answer questions families might have. We also have an active parent community. Several parents are bilingual and are happy to assist with translation as needed, such as school events and the bi-monthly Resurrection Parent Community (RPC) meetings.

How do Resurrection's academics compare to public school?

Resurrection consistently performs higher on the Kansas assessments as compared to other schools in the KCK community. One reason for this is the small class sizes and personal attention that students receive at RCS. We have dedicated teachers who are highly trained and motivated, including a variety of support staff to help meet the individual needs of students. We provide quality academics designed to prepare students for high school, college, and career-readiness. We incorporate technology to build 21st-century skills and integrate STREAM into our daily lessons. For more information about our exciting STREAM initiatives and how technology is utilized at RCS, click on the Academics tab at the top of the page.

Is financial aid available?

Yes, financial aid is available to those who qualify. There are financial aid opportunities through the state of Kansas as well as through the Catholic Education Foundation. You must complete the FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment to determine your eligibility for financial aid. For questions, please contact the school office at 913-371-8101.

Does my child have to be Catholic to attend Resurrection?
