The 5th and 6th grade science position will include two hours of 5th grade science, two hours of sixth grade science and one hour of religion. The preferred candidate will have or be able to get a science or elementary ed certification.

 RCS Literacy Specialist   2026-2027 School Year

Position Overview

The Literacy Specialist will play a pivotal role in advancing literacy instruction across Kindergarten through 8th grade, ensuring alignment of curriculum and outcomes across grade levels, and fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement. This position is critical to supporting teachers, improving student outcomes, and strengthening the school’s capacity to deliver high-quality, evidence-based Language Arts, literacy, and writing instruction.

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

• Engage in on-going Professional Development to grow professionally and seek out valuable Professional Development for the teachers and staff at RCS

• Model effective teaching strategies through co-teaching and small group intervention.

• Collaborate with teachers in grades K-8 to analyze student data, identify learning gaps, and develop targeted intervention plans.

• Work with all grade levels to develop a curriculum map using scope and sequence to close gaps and ensure the school’s literacy curriculum aligns

•  Support teachers in using assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.

• Develop and share resources, tools, and strategies to enhance literacy instruction across all grade levels.

• Stay current with research-based practices in literacy instruction

• Partner with the Math Specialist to oversee school-wide testing.

• Participate in all required reporting, monitoring, and evaluation to assess the effectiveness of literacy programs.

• Collect and analyze data to measure student growth, program impact, and teacher development.

• Maintain regular communication with teachers, staff, and administrators highlighting progress, challenges, and recommendations of student needs, interventions, and progress toward goals.

• Serve as a liaison between teachers and school leadership, ensuring alignment of instructional practices with school-wide goals.

• Foster a collaborative culture by encouraging peer observation, feedback, and shared learning among staff.

• Research effective writing curriculums and oversee the implementation and alignment of this  curriculum across all grade levels

• ESL certification/experience preferred, but not required

• Additional duties as assigned.
